Very soon, the motorcycles of the legendary American brand Indian Motorcycles will appear on the Ukrainian motor market. Few people know that the first motorcycle in the U.S. history was manufactured by Indian Motorcycle back in 1901. Throughout the development of the motorcycle industry, Indian and Harley-Davidson were the most violent and implacable rivals.
The Indian brand has a long and complicated history. The revival of the once very large-scale business was provided by Polaris Industries Corporation, having bought the Indian brand in April 2011. A new factory was built in Spirit Lake, Iowa. In August of the same year, the first Indian motorcycle was released here. It was a red and black Indian Chief Vintage. Thus began the latest history of the famous brand.
Having taken the reins, the current owners of the Indian brand - Polaris Industries concern, have embarked on greater accessibility and mass motorcycle of this brand. Regarding the problems of the previous owners, Polaris Industries vice president of motorcycle business, Steve Menetto, said: “We Americans love comebacks, and Indian is one of those names people look forward to returning.”
The Indian Motorcycles company, being under the wing of Polaris, is developing rapidly and is becoming more and more popular among fans of an old-school cruiser with a rich history. Not so long ago, Indian introduced a new engine, and at the Sturgis rally, the American manufacturer will present the new Indian Chief 2014.
The first delivery of bikes of this brand in Ukrvine is expected in June 2014.
