The world's first graphene helmet
The world's First graphene helmet due to the cooperation of the Italian Institute of technology (IIT) and well-known companies Momodesign with the support of the Graphene Flagship. Graphene Flagship is a research consortium whose objective is the implementation based on graphene technologies into industrial production.
Graphene is known as the most durable material of the existing. New motorcycle helmet covered outside with graphene, which provides an improved distribution of impact force and dissipates heat quickly. The helmet consists of a rigid outer capsule and impact absorbing polystyrene foam inner lining.
The good news for motorcyclists is that the total weight of the helmet significantly decreased, with increased mechanical strength and increased thermal stability.
As explained by the Director of the laboratory of Graphene Labs at IIT — Vittorio Pellegrini — this increases the safety and temperature comfort of the rider.
The Helmets are manufactured at the plant Momodesign in Northern Italy. The first limited series of 3000 copies, intended for sale in specialized markets and major exhibitions.
